A runner on the school track got an unexpected extra Sunday evening when he caught a whiff of natural gas and called ONG.
Oklahoma Natural Gas determined there was a leak, shut down service to the sprawling Oologah-Talala campus, and started the detective work.
Finding and fixing the leak near the athletic building didn’t take too long, but finishing efforts to ensure the school was safe to reopen for students and staff lasted far longer.
Thursday marks the fourth straight day the entire school is closed while workers tried to find the remaining leakage.
The Regional Basketball Tournament has been moved to Tulsa Webster.
Decisions on school will be made each evening depending on the progress of the repairs.
