Cherokee Nation leaders presented the Oologah Community Foundation and VFW Post 3077 in Collinsville $10,000 checks each on Feb. 2..

Oologah Community Foundation will use the funds to complete a new playground, while the Collinsville VFW plans to use the money to repair the roof of the organization’s building.
As a tribal councilor, one of the important things we do is keep our ear to the ground to find out about the exciting projects going on in our communities,” said District 14 Tribal Councilor Keith Austin. “These kinds of investments in our communities improve the lives of all people. In Collinsville, our investment brings honor to the veterans who served in foreign wars by ensuring they have a sound building for many years to come. In Oologah, it invests in the future of a great town and honors the initiative of the local leaders. I am proud our Nation recognizes these as investments worth making.”

The tribe donated the money from its special projects fund to the two District 14 organizations.
